Im a young boy with bunion problems!!?

well my dad suggested surgery next summer and i agreed with him, but on the other hand my mom disagreed and said that wait until i grow older then surgery b'cuz she said that if i get a surgery now it can grow back to being a bunion again, is this true? wat are ur opinions? who's right? and i do need one so badly cuz i hate being barefoot and it shows!
