How to cook chicken stroganoff?

I know how to cook it, but i dont know how to cook it in a way to make the chicken tender...the way i make it i sautee some onions and garlic, add the strips of chicken, then add white wine...then i add tomato sauce and catchup, and lastly the cream...sprinkle parsley at the end...the sauce=amazing the meat=kind of hard...any suggestions?
