Landlord made serious threats - what are my rights?

I recently moved into a house controlled by my best friend's boyfriend. Not only has he altered our initial agreement, he has violated my privacy & made serious threats that compromise my safety. Initially I was to rent this house at $550./month - I paid my frist months rent/security accordingly. No receipt was ever provided, and no lease was drafted at that time. THE DAY I moved in, he'd left a lease here indicating the rent would be $850./month - I have not signed it, or returned it. I have read up on the details regarding 'periodic tenancy', and fully understand. I relocated 150 miles, to this house, fleeing a dangerous relationship. A restrainging was granted against my ex preventing him from contacting me. Today, the landlord threatened to contact the ex and notify him of my where-abouts unless I sign said lease. Obviously, I need to move, and quick - can I do anything about him threatening and intimidating me? Can I possibly recoup my cost for rent/security in light of all?
